Monetary is for keeping a record of financial transaction details in your iCloud account.

Monetary can be used to keep a record of income and expenses for personal finances and money management.

Monetary is simple and easy to use.

The main screen shows an overview of the money in and money out as well as the balance which is the difference between money in and out.

The user can tap on the corresponding row to view all the categories and payment methods as well as transactions for money in and money out.

Using Monetary for the first time:

When the Monetary application is first used, it will prompt the user to create and name their account. The account is where all transaction data will be saved in the users iCloud space. The user can change the account name at a later time.

Application Settings:

Reach this screen by tapping on the first button in the top right corner of the main screen.

From here you can edit the account name, delete the account, change the search start and search end date and change the money in and money out text color.

Transactions, Categories and Payment methods:

Reach this screen by tapping on the second button in the top right corner of the main screen.

From this screen the user can decide to create a new transaction as well as to add, edit or delete a category or payment method.

Adding a transaction:

Tap on the button in the top right corner on the main page, then select either the money in or money out option to create the transaction.

When adding a new transaction, the reference is optional but all other details must be included. Before adding a new transaction, the category or payment method that the transaction belongs to must already have been created so that it can be selected from the list of categories or payment methods.

If you have not created the relevant category or payment method beforehand then you will have to create one when creating a transaction.

Adding a Category or Payment Method:

Add a new category or payment method by entering the name in the field and saving it.

If 2 or more categories have the same spelling they are still treated as separate.

If 2 or more payment methods have the same spelling they are treated as separate.

Give categories and payment methods different spellings to make it easier to differentiate them.

A category helps group similar transactions together and a payment method identifies how a transaction was paid for.

Deleting Categories and Payment Methods:

Refresh the list of categories or payment methods, Select the one to delete and then delete it.

If a category or payment method is deleted, the transactions that include the deleted category or payment method will not be deleted but the user will not be able to search for those transactions using the deleted category or payment method.

The user can still search for the transaction using the money in or money out page.

Editing a category name or payment method name:

Select the category name or payment method name, then edit the name and click the edit button, confirm the edit.

Transactions linked to the previous name will now be linked to the new name.

Viewing the total money in, total money out and balance:

On the main page, refresh the view by tapping the refresh button in the top left corner.

Viewing Categories and Payment Methods:

Select view categories to view all categories or view payment methods to view all payment methods. If necessary, refresh the list.

By selecting a category or payment method you can see all the transactions under that category or payment method.

Viewing transactions:

Select money in to view money in, select money out to view money out.

Alternatively, select view categories or view payment methods, then select the category or payment method to view the transactions.

Editing a transaction:

Locate the transaction through the main page, either via the money in or money out option or via the category or payment method option.

Select the transaction then tap on the button in the top right corner. The transaction details page will appear and from there the transaction can be edited.

Deleting a transaction:

Locate the transaction through the main page, either via the money in or money out option or via the category or payment method option.

Select the transaction then tap on the button in the top right corner. The transaction details page will appear and from there the transaction can be deleted.

Viewing Recent data:

From the main page, select view recent then select the option required.

Changing the Account name:

From the main page tap the first button in the top right corner to access the Settings page.

From the App Settings page, select Account Name, then in the next screen, enter the new Account name, click edit and then confirm the edit.

If necessary, click the refresh button to see the current Account Name.

Changing the search start or search end date:

From the main page tap the first button in the top right corner to access the Settings page.

From the App Settings page, select Search start or Search end then switch the search button on, change the date and then save.

Changing the money in text color or money out text color:

From the App Settings page, select Money in or Money Out, then choose the desired color.

The default colors are green for money in and red for money out.

Deleting all user data:

From the App Settings page, select Delete Account, optionally tap on the refresh button to see the name of the account.

Tap on the delete/trash button, a confirmation message will appear, if you are sure you want to delete all your data then tap on Delete.

Monetary is a convenient way for iOS users that have an iCloud account to keep a record of financial transactions in the cloud.

An iCloud account can be created for free by the owner of an iOS device.
